Iceland is a island located in the northern parts of the Atlantic ocean. The population of the country is only 320,000 people. The capital city is Reykjavik with around 120,000 inhabitants. Iceland is a volcanically and geologically active area characterized by sand fields, mountains, and glaciers. Iceland was inhabited for the first time by Norsemen in AD 874.

Iceland has a free market economy and part of the European Economic Area. The country has a low tax rate despite having the Nordic welfare system, which includes services such as universal health care. The economic crisis in 2008 caused a total crash in the nation’s banking system, but nowadays the country’s economy is recovering quickly which makes internships in Iceland particularly enticing.
